Thanks for taking out time to read our newsletter. It has been some time since we have updated you. Our family returned to the States because of expired visas, to visit our new Grandbaby and to visit churches (raising awareness and to raise support for our work here in Mombasa). If you were not able to join us during this time in America we shared many stories, many of them very sad but always in the end you saw Gods redeeming hand. The stories were meant to encourage the church and to empower each of us to rescue those that are weak and in desperate need of help. God is putting us in the path of those who need Him most. Your giving has directly and dramatically affected so many lives. If only you could see it!
500 Club:
One of our ministries that takes up much of our attention is the 500 club (VBS for 500 orphans) every Saturday. Our first day back to the 500 club and feeding center we learned as we were walking in that because of the death of one of the little girls they had cancelled food for the kids to attend funeral, very heartbroken over this. We had 500 little hungry faces looking at us for food. We ran to a supermarket and bought some cookies and sweets. It wasn’t a full meal but it was all we could do at the last minute. Making food for 500 is a big undertaking, it does not just happen, hours of preparations…..On that note we are feeling led to start another feeding and 500 club in one of the other slums in Mombasa. Because of the Islamic faith many will never come to the 500 club. If we offer a bowl of beans many of these
Families are so desperate for their children to eat, they will allow them to come. They will receive both physical food and spiritual food. For many of them it will be there only meal that day.
Ministries:
Many of you have donated to our different ministries sacrificially and for that we are truly thankful. We look forward to sharing with you in the days to come how blessed and sometimes even life changing your giving has been received.
We will be beginning Celebrate Recovery soon(an addiction recovery class). We have already started back to our medical ministry (Thursday we will take Brenda who has hydrocephalus to be measured for a back brace} Wayne has begun discipleship with our young men on Sunday nights. Tammy will start a lady’s bible study this Wednesday with a group of missionary women. Haven has started back to her ministry at the orphanage. If you can remember baby Gold in your prayers(she is very sick)
The house is mourning over the loss of one of the little babies (Amoni in picture 1). We will all miss him very much.
Tammy will be delivering Baby Packages in the villages in a couple weeks. We have met several new mommies in need so ministry has already begun, we have already given out 4 of the hand knitted baby hats (thank you Mary Lou), diapers, and baby onesies (thanks to all who have given to this). We have gotten caught up on all the school fees for kids who are sponsored. The students are doing very well and are incredibly thankful to be in such a wonderful school. One of them received most improved student of the year. We have several other students we have paired up with sponsors and are preparing them for school soon. We have delivered the Sunday school curriculum to the children at our church and we are meeting with our pastor here in Kenya for dinner tonight to go over many opportunities for service. We feel blessed every day to serve in this way. There is no price we could put on the things God has shown us.
Interesting Facts:
Since our return 1. We got asked if we have been eating a lot of cheese? (we are” xtra large!”) 2. A little girl tinkled(peed) into Wayne’s shoes that were sitting outside at bible study. 3. Wayne is doing all the laundry by hand and has blisters 4. Our month supply of Lucky Charms ran out on day 2. 5. We almost lost our bumper again but we were able to tie it back on with an ace bandage. 6.It has rained every day for the past 2 weeks. 7. Most important we were able to fill out and send in all paperwork for our resident visa (yay! Praying it comes quickly..this will mean not having to return to the states every 6 months)
Many of our ministries are almost funded! Unfortunately our family is far from being fully funded. In order for us to continue our work God will need to provide. We are trusting Him for whatever He wants. To some it may seem reckless to continue even though our funding was not there. When God calls you to something there is nothing that will stop you…so here we. We have done all we can do. We are trusting Him for whatever it may be. If He has called us then He will make a way and will use our struggles to bring glory to His Name.
We have given an overview of our yearly budget below. Please consider praying about partnering with us by donating monthly (monthly donors are a big part of being able to stay on the mission field).
