I have so many stories on top of stories that I couldn’t even begin to tell them all. I had such a blessed day with Sarah and Brooke yesterday. They are our neighbors and we take care of each other. Sarah began coming to Kenya back in 2007. After retiring as an xray technition she sold here home and belongings back in 2013 and moved here to mombasa kenya with her daughter Brooke who has special needs. We talked about how we loved waking up here every morning knowing God had …something beautiful planned in store for us. We talked about how God uses our adversities in our lives to help others. One of her passions is breasts cancer awareness being she is a beast cancer survivor. She teaches self breasts examinations anywhere and everywhere they allow her. God has also used her struggles with having a child with disabilities in so many ways. Today I met Bonnie, Lucy and there daughter Matilda who has cerebral palsy. Bonnie , the dad, told me about the first time he saw Sarah and Brooke . He was there waiter in a restaurant. He said he saw how well Brooke did in her wheelchair and how good Sarah was with her and even though he was so terrified he had to talk to her about his daughter. He had been saving money for a long time to buy his daughter a wheelchair and needed assistance in purchasing the right one. Now Sarah has taught them some physical therapy. There daughter has come so far in just a few short months. This families biggest need was not th8s wheelchair or even physical therapy. They needed to know they weren’t alone and that someone cared. As Lucy hugged me before we left she held me so tight. We both had tears coming down our cheaks. I knew that God was bringing healing to her. I think when we are filled with Jesus than maybe it’s a little like Jesus giving them a hug.
Our next of 3 stops was the orphage where she teaching the women bible study and her and Brooke serve in whatever way is needed. They are a team but Brooke has a special in is try of her own. She has such a joy about her and tells everyone she sees how much she loves them and then hugs them. It’s hard to not smile around her.
One of my favorite testimonies of the day was the story of how a little newborn baby was brought into the orphanage..He had been thrown into a water well. He layer there for probably 24 hours but landed face up. Sarah decide they should name him Moses. He was adopted this September.
I just wanted to add that Sarah is going to be 70 years and has some extra challenges being Brooke is disabled. So I’m not sure what challenges you may have but whatever they are don’t let them stop you. I asked her (Sarah) if she had any words for anyone who might read this and she said “Just say yes to Jesus!
